Jesih families are Croats and they are mostly from Slovenia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Slovenia. In Stara Ves Košnička in Pregrada area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Jesih.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Jesih live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties and 10 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Kriz in Ivanic-Grad area (<10), Bratkovec in Klanjec area (<10), Zapresic (<5), and in Stara Ves Kosnicka in Pregrada area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
