Jašić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Brac , rarely Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and on the Island of Brac. In Crvica in Podrinje (Bosnia) nearly every inhabitant had the family name Jašić.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Jašić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Split (25), Zagreb (15), Novo Selo on the Island of Brac (10), Dubrovnik (<10), and in Pazin (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1742 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
