In Croatia, Jaša families are almost entirely Croats (from the Island of Ugljan ), very rarely Montenegrins (from Zadar ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ivanic-Grad and in Zadar.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Jaša live in Croatia today, in 15 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are only located in threee Croatian cities and 5 other places, mostly in Kukljica on the Island of Ugljan (10), Zadar (<10), Zagreb (<10), Sljivosevci in Donji Miholjac area (<5), and in Graberje Ivanicko (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
