Jarec families are Croats and they are mostly from Sveti Ivan Zelina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sveti Ivan Zelina and Zagreb. In places Bunjak and Nespeš in Sveti Ivan Zelina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Jarec.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Jarec live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in threee Croatian counties and 16 other places, mostly in Bunjak (45), Zagreb (15), Biskupec Zelinski (10), Nespes (10), and in Gornja Drenova (<10).
