Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Janči live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 24 other places, mostly in Kalinovac in Djurdjevac area (20), Zagreb (15), Djurdjevac (10), Bjelovar (10), and in Novo Virje in Djurdjevac area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
