In Croatia, Janda families are mainly Croats (from Daruvar area ), less frequently Czechs (also from Daruvar area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Daruvar area and in Pakrac.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Janda live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 7 cities and four other places, mostly in Daruvar (15), Koncanica in Daruvar area (15), Zagreb (15), Rijeka (<5), and in Sesvete (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
