In Croatia, Jamnik families are predominantly Croats (from Ivanec area ), rarely Slovenes (also from Ivanec area ), and barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ivanec area and in Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Jamnik live in Croatia today, in 19 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, threee cities and 5 other places, mostly in Cestica in Ivanec area (20), Zagreb (10), Umag (<10), Rijeka (<5), and in Otok Virje in Ivanec area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1927 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
