Jakuš families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Lepoglava area , rarely Slovaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Lepoglava area. In places Belovar Zlatarski and Lug Poznanovečki in Lepoglava area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Jakuš.
Prevalence
About 430 people with faimily name Jakuš live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 490 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 36 other places, mostly in Zagreb (120), in Belovar Zlatarski (50), Bedekovcina (50) and Poznanovec (50) in Lepoglava area, and in Vinkovci (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
