Jakovljević families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. According to some sources they are from Drnis area and Ukrajine, rarely Serbs and Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Jajce area) and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area). In places Seoci , Cvitović and Vitovlje in Middle Bosnia every fourth inhabitant had the family name Jakovljević.
Prevalence
About 1900 people with faimily name Jakovljević live in Croatia today, in 800 households. There were 790 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 80 cities and 217 other places, mostly in Zagreb (310), Sesvete (65), Rijeka (65), Sibenik (55), and in Borovo in Vukovar area (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
