Jaković families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Janjevo , Kosovo, less frequently Serbs. According to some sources the family name originates from Konavle. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Kosovo.
Prevalence
About 1000 people with faimily name Jaković live in Croatia today, in 300 households. There were 280 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than tripled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 36 cities and 56 other places, mostly in Zagreb (105), Dugo Selo (90), Predavac in Bjelovar area (85), Vocin in Slatina area (75), and in Veliki Bastaji in Daruvar area (75).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
