About 130 people with faimily name Jakir live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 8 other places, mostly in Brela (55) and Baska Voda (30) in Makarska area, Zagreb (15), Makarska (15), and in Split (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
