Jahić families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Podrinje (Bosnia), whereas often Croats (iz Tuzla Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanska Gradiska area). In Blječeva in Podrinje (Bosnia) nearly every inhabitant had the family name Jahić.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Jahić live in Croatia today, in 50 households. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Zagreb (65), Pula (30), Rijeka (15), Mavrinci in Rijeka area (15), and in Split (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
