Jagar families are Croats and they are mostly from Obrovac area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area). In Radulec in Vrbovec area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Jagar.
Prevalence
About 340 people with faimily name Jagar live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 310 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 37 other places, mostly in Zagreb (175), Globocec in Zlatar area (25), Slavonski Brod (15), Molve in Djurdjevac area (10), and in Radulec in Vrbovec area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
