Ivančić families are Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina. According to some sources they are from the Island of Brac, Istria and from Omis. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Doboj, Bosnia (Doboj area). In Grabovica in Doboj area, BiH every fourth inhabitant had the family name Ivančić.
Prevalence
About 3400 people with faimily name Ivančić live in Croatia today, in 1400 households. There were 2600 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 80 cities and 307 other places, mostly in Zagreb (690), Sesvete (175), Split (160), Pula (135), and in Rijeka (105).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1614 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
