In Croatia, Iris families are almost entirely Croats (from Sisak ), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sisak.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Iris live in Croatia today, in 12 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in only four naselja i to in Sisak (25), Kratecko (<5), Zagreb (<5), and in Cret Posavski in Ivanic-Grad area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1930 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
