Husar families are often Croats and they are mostly from Bjelovar , rarely Hungarians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bjelovar and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Husar live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (35), Gornje Plavnice (10), Visnjevac (<10), Vlatkovac in Pleternica area (<10), and in Bjelovar (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
