Hunjadi families are Croats and they are mostly from Prelog area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cakovec and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 340 people with faimily name Hunjadi live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 460 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 19 cities and 41 other places, mostly in Zagreb (90), Sveta Marija in Prelog area (55), Cakovec (25), Varazdin (20), and in Donji Vidovec in Prelog area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1927 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
