About 110 people with faimily name Hozjan live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Selnica in Mursko Sredisce area (30), Cakovec (20), Zagreb (15), Mursko Sredisce (<10), and in Senkovec in Cakovec area (<10).
Outside Croatia
At least seven families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to: Germany (5), the United States (1), and to Austria (1). Family name Hozjan (including: Hozian , Hozyan ) is present in 13 countries on three continents. The family name "Hozjan " is used by some 200 people in Canada , about 80 in the United States , and small number of people in France. "Hozian " is used by some 100 people in the United States and small number in Canada.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1927 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
