In Croatia, Horvath families are predominantly Croats (from Djakovo area ), rarely Hungarians (from Vinkovci area ), and very rarely Slovaks (from Ilok ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Beli Manastir area.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Horvath live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Zagreb (35), Ilok (<10), Semeljci in Djakovo area (<10), Varazdin (<5), and in Cepin in Osijek area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over four hundred times, the first time 1669 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
