Holik families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Slavonski Brod area , less frequently Rusyns (from Iloka area). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vukovar and Zagreb. In Vrbas in Middle Bosnia nearly every inhabitant had the family name Holik.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Holik live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 14 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Osijek (20), Slavonski Brod (15), Petrovci in Vukovar area (10), and in Miklusevci in Ilok area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
