Holi families are Croats and they are mostly from Varazdin area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Varazdin and in Varazdin area.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Holi live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties and 19 other places, mostly in Sveti Ilija in Varazdin area (30), Virovitica (10), Turcin in Varazdin area (<10), Zagreb (<10), and in Varazdin (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1933 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
