Hlad families are Croats and they are mostly from Zabok area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zabok area and in Zagreb. In Radakovo in Zabok area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Hlad.
Prevalence
About 180 people with faimily name Hlad live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (65), in Radakovo (35) and Kraljevec na Sutli (10) in Zabok area, Jakovlje in Zapresic area (<10), and in Sesvete (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
