Hasan families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Sveti Ivan Zelina , rarely Albanians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Sveti Ivan Zelina. In Hrnjanec in Sveti Ivan Zelina every sixth inhabitant had the family name Hasan.
Prevalence
About 330 people with faimily name Hasan live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 450 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 22 cities and 38 other places, mostly in Zagreb (60), Donja Zelina (35), Rijeka (30), Hrnjanec (20), and in Zuljana on the Peljesac peninsula (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
