Hardi families are mainly Rusyns and they are mostly from Vukovar area , but often Croats (from Djakovo ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vukovar and in Vukovar area.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Hardi live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Petrovci in Vukovar area (40), Vinkovci (25), Vukovar (20), Djakovo (15), and in Zagreb (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1938 in source Phone Book - Zagreb 1938.
