Hanak families are Croats and they are mostly from Cazma area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Cazma area.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Hanak live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 12 other places, mostly in Narta in Cazma area (15), Zagreb (10), Osijek (<10), Bjelovar (<10), and in Pitomaca in Djurdjevac area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
