In Croatia, Halaš families are mainly Croats (from Ivanic-Grad ), rarely Czechs (from Cazma area ), and very rarely Slovaks (from Kutina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ivanic-Grad and in Kutina.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Halaš live in Croatia today, in 7 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in only five Croatian places: in Popovaca in Kutina area (<10), Graberje Ivanicko (<10), Medjuric (<5), Banova Jaruga (<5), and in Velika Ludina in Cazma area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
