Gunčić families are Croats and they are mostly from Samobor. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Samobor and Zagreb. In Veliki Lipovec in Samobor every third inhabitant had the family name Gunčić.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Gunčić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 6 cities and another small place , mostly in Samobor (30), Veliki Lipovec (20), Rijeka (<10), Sisak (<5), and in Kutina (<5).
Outside Croatia
At least one family with this surname emigrated from Croatia to the United States. Family name Gunčić (including: Guncic , Guntschnig and Gunchick ) is present in five countries on two continents. "Gunchick " is used by small number of people in Germany and small number in the United States.
