Gršić families are Croats and they are mostly from Oroslavje area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Oroslavje area. In Veleškovec in Oroslavje area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Gršić.
Prevalence
About 170 people with faimily name Gršić live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 16 other places, mostly in Zagreb (35), Veleskovec in Oroslavje area (30), Sisak (15), Misinci in Ozalj area (15), and in Krizevci (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
