Gruber families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Pakrac , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Pakrac.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Gruber live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 230 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Zrinska in Grubisno Polje area (10), Slavonski Brod (10), Badljevina (10), and in Popovaca in Kutina area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
