Grmuša families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Glina and according to some sources from Herzegovina (Ljubuski), whereas often Croats (from Sisak ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Glina and Zagreb. In Bojna in Glina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Grmuša.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Grmuša live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 290 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 28 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Plavno (20), Sisak (<10), Sesvete (<10), and in Petrinja (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
