Grković families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Slunj area , whereas often Croats (from Ogulin ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slunj area and in Zagreb. In places Latin and Međeđak in Slunj area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Grković.
Prevalence
About 260 people with faimily name Grković live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 420 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 31 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Zagreb (60), Split (25), Rijeka (25), and in Latin (15) and Plaski (15) in Slunj area.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
