Gregorić families are Croats and they are mostly from Nova Gradiska area. According to some sources they are from Metlike or Novog Mesta in Slovenia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Jastrebarsko. In Vlaškovec in Jastrebarsko every fourth inhabitant had the family name Gregorić.
Prevalence
About 470 people with faimily name Gregorić live in Croatia today, in 220 households. There were 640 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 30 cities and 56 other places, mostly in Zagreb (85), Orubica in Nova Gradiska area (40), Rijeka (30), Osijek (25), and in Samobor (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1714 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
