In Croatia, Goljak families are almost entirely Croats (from Virovitica area ), barely Czechs (from Bjelovar ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Klanjec.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Goljak live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, threee cities and threee other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Sesvete (<10), Osijek (<5), Bjelovar (<5), and in Budakovac in Virovitica area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
