In Croatia, Godić families are mainly Croats (from Slavonski Brod ), less frequently Serbs, and barely Hungarians (from Lipik ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Karlovac and Slavonski Brod. In Utinja Vrelo in Duga Resa area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Godić.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Godić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, in 7 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Zivkovic Kosa in Duga Resa area (10), Slavonski Brod (<10), Cukur (<10), and in Karlovac (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1931 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
