Glavinić families are Croats and they are mostly from Opuzen area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Dubrovnik and in Sinj area. In Babin Do in Bosnian Krajina nearly every inhabitant had the family name Glavinić.
Prevalence
About 700 people with faimily name Glavinić live in Croatia today, in 270 households. There were 380 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 27 cities and 47 other places, mostly in Metkovic (80), Dubrovnik (80), Potravlje in Sinj area (75), Zagreb (65), and in Postira on the Island of Brac (50).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1678 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
