In Croatia, Gjurić families are Croats (from Djurdjevac area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Bjelovar. In Ertić in Ozalj area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Gjurić.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Gjurić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Varazdin (<10), Kuzmica (<10), Nasice (<10), and in Molve in Djurdjevac area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
