In Croatia, Gaža families are mainly Slovaks (from Backa, Vojvodina ), rarely Croats (from Beli Manastir area ), and . In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Backa, Vojvodina.
Prevalence
Only a few people with faimily name Gaža live in Croatia today, in three households only. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are only located in in one Croatian city and two other places, mostly in Beli Manastir (<5), Bilje in Osijek area (<5), and in Petlovac in Beli Manastir area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1930 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
