Gazilj families are Croats and they are mostly from Rama (north Herzegovina), Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rama, Bosnia (Prozor area) and in Middle Bosnia (Bugojno area). In Proslap in Rama (Bosnia) every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Gazilj.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Gazilj live in Croatia today, in 40 households. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Makarska (45), Pleternica (40), Zagreb (25), Djakovo (<10), and in Mali Losinj on the Island of Losinj (<10).
