Gavrić families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Novi Travnik area) and in Bosnian Krajina (Teslic area). In places Kovačići and Kobilja in Middle Bosnia every second inhabitant had the family name Gavrić.
Prevalence
About 980 people with faimily name Gavrić live in Croatia today, in 390 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 67 cities and 146 other places, mostly in Zagreb (160), Slavonski Brod (55), Cerovac Vukmanicki (35), Rijeka (35), and in Sesvete (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
