Gavranić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Korcula , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Doboj, Bosnia (Doboj area) and on the Island of Korcula.
Prevalence
About 380 people with faimily name Gavranić live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 21 other places, mostly in Blato on the Island of Korcula (120), Slavonski Brod (95), Split (35), Zagreb (30), and in Gornja Vrba in Slavonski Brod area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
