Galic families are Croats and they are mostly from Lepoglava area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Lepoglava area. In Pustodol Orehovički in Lepoglava area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Galic.
Prevalence
About 200 people with faimily name Galic live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 28 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), Pustodol Orehovicki in Lepoglava area (25), Strmec in Samobor area (15), Bedekovcina in Lepoglava area (15), and in Spisic Bukovica in Virovitica area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
