In Croatia, Gado families are predominantly Croats (from Beli Manastir area ), rarely Hungarians (also from Beli Manastir area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and in Beli Manastir area. In Mačkovac in Slatina area every thirtieth inhabitant had the family name Gado.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Gado live in Croatia today, in 13 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in threee Croatian counties and 5 other places, mostly in Petlovac (<10) and Kozarac (<5) in Beli Manastir area, Nasice (<5), Osijek (<5), and in Djurdjenovac in Nasice area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
