Frankol families are Croats and they are mostly from Koprivnica area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Koprivnica area and in Krapina. In Trnovac Sokolovački in Koprivnica area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Frankol.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Frankol live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 20 other places, mostly in Koprivnica (20), Trnovac Sokolovacki in Koprivnica area (20), Zagreb (20), Podgora Krapinska (<10), and in Mahovo in Sisak area (<10).

Family name Frankol (including: Franciol , Francol ) is present in 9 countries on four continents. "Franciol " is used by small number of people in the United States.
