Franjo families are Croats and they are mostly from Djurdjevac area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Djurdjevac area and in Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Franjo live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 16 other places, mostly in Jakovlje in Zapresic area (35), Molve in Djurdjevac area (25), Koprivnica (15), Repas in Djurdjevac area (10), and in Zagreb (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
