Forjan families are Croats and they are mostly from Cazma area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bjelovar and in Cazma area. In places Gornja Šušnjara and Donja Šušnjara in Cazma area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Forjan.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Forjan live in Croatia today, in 160 households. There were 400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 50 other places, mostly in Zagreb (65), Bilje in Osijek area (35), Bjelovar (20), Laminac in Cazma area (20), and in Luzani Zagorski in Krapina area (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
