In Croatia, Foriš families are generally Croats (from Vukovar ), very rarely Hungarians (from Beli Manastir area ), and barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and Vukovar.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Foriš live in Croatia today, in 18 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located and four other Croatian places, mostly in Vukovar (10), Osijek (<10), Sibinj in Slavonski Brod area (<10), Zagreb (<5), and in Josipovac (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
