Foretić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Korcula. According to some sources they are from the Island of Hvar. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Dubrovnik and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Foretić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are only located in in 9 Croatian cities and threee other places, mostly in Korcula on the Island of Korcula (25), Zagreb (20), Split (10), Komiza on the Island of Vis (10), and in Dubrovnik (<10).

"Foretich " is used by some 200 people in the United States , small number in Chile , and small number of people in Italy.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
