In Croatia, Fischer families are generally Croats (from Valpovo area ), barely Serbs, and . In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Rijeka. In Donja Topličica in Sveti Ivan Zelina every tenth inhabitant had the family name Fischer.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Fischer live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 130 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Zagreb (15), Varazdin (15), Rijeka (10), Slavonski Brod (<10), and in Nova Gradiska (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
