Filić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Janjevo , Kosovo, rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Janjevo, Kosovo and in Ilok area.
Prevalence
About 520 people with faimily name Filić live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 290 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 28 cities and 33 other places, mostly in Zagreb (160), Predavac in Bjelovar area (45), Ilaca in Ilok area (40), Vocin in Slatina area (25), and in Vukovar (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
