In Croatia, Fila families are mainly Croats (from Pozega area ), less frequently Czechs (from Daruvar area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pakrac and in Daruvar area. In Donji Sređani in Daruvar area every thirtieth inhabitant had the family name Fila.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Fila live in Croatia today, in 15 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and threee other places, mostly in Kaptol in Pozega area (10), Zagreb (10), Lipik (<10), Sirac in Daruvar area (<10), and in Daruvar (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
